The total COVID-19 infections breached the one million mark as the Department of Health (DOH) announces 8,929 new cases today, April 26, 2021.

The country reached 1,006,428 total cases and has also reported 70 new deaths bringing the death toll to 16,853, and 11,333 new recoveries bringing the total recoveries to 914,952.

The active cases are now at 74,623 or about 7.2% of the total COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Philippines is the 26th country to reach more than one million cases in the world, and 2nd in South East Asia next to Indonesia.

Although the DOH reported a decline in the 7-day moving average for new COVID-19 cases, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire says this should not make Filipinos complacent as hospitals are still facing challenges.

As of April 25, 2021, a total of 1,739,656 vaccines have been administered all over the country, 1,508,608 of which were administered for the first dose, and 230,998 were administered for the 2nd dose.

The Philippines plans to have 70-M Filipinos fully vaccinated — meaning administered 2 doses by December 31, 2021, and as of now, the country is at 0.33% of the target population.
