Inihayag ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ngayong Miyerkules na mananatiling ika-30 ng Setyembre 2021 ang huling araw ng pagpaparehistro para sa Halalan 2022.

Sa kabila ng mga panawagan ng ilang mambabatas at grupo ng kabataan na iusog ang  deadline ng rehistrasyon, tumugon ang Comelec na posibleng maantala nito ang preparasyon sa nalalapit na 2022 National Elections sa ika-9 ng Mayo 2022. 

“The commission is concerned that if we delay the end of voter registration, it will also cause corresponding delays in all other preparatory activities, especially those that depend on the finalization of the list of voters. That will have the potential to adversely affect the timelines in the preparations for the presidential elections,” ani tagapagsalita ng Comelec na si James Jimenez sa isang birtuwal na media briefing.

Napagdesisyunan naman ng Comelec en banc na palawigin na lamang ang oras ng pagpaparehistro at payagang magsagawa ng operasyon tuwing Sabado at  holiday. 

“The en Banc also unanimously approved the extension of voter registration hours, as well as the opening of voter registration on Saturdays and holidays, for the remainder of the voter registration period,” ani Jimenez. 

Sa ngayon, wala pang inilalabas ang Comelec na opisyal na alituntunin ukol dito, ngunit asahang magbababa ito ng detalyadong patakaran sa madaling panahon.  

Sa kasalukuyan, ang mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng General Community Quarantine (GCQ) at modified GCQ ay maaaring magparehistro mula ika-8 ng umaga hanggang ika-5 ng hapon tuwing Lunes hanggang Biyernes sa Office of the Election Officer at tuwing Sabado naman sa mga satellite registration site.

Binigyang diin din ni Jimenez na ang pagpaparehistro ay maaari lamang isagawa sa mga lugar sa ilalim ng GCQ at modified GCQ. 

Upang malaman ang proseso kung paano magparehistro, maaaring bisitahin ang iRehistro at ang opisyal na website ng Comelec.
