To Be A Cartoonist

The room is dark and empty, filled with nothing but the void left by the absence of light. Many would see this picture as gloomy and desolate, yet we cartoonists see it differently. The canvas I paint on pitch black like my room, yet I choose to befriend the darkness that envelops me; it grants me comfort— my mind is calm. My tunnel vision glares at the light my device puts off, dimly painting my room a greyish color, yet I pay no mind to the clash of light and shadow occurring behind me. My hands move in solemn rhythm with my mind, gliding through the screen elegantly, bringing life to a barren, pitch-black canvas. As my thoughts materialize into art, the world lightens up with my avenue of expressing my sentiments on the issues that plague this mundane world.
