The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Strand of the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) gathered for STEM Connect: Our Final Orbit on Friday, October 16 at the Formation and Learning Center (FLC), 2nd Floor Assembly Space.
Spearheaded by the STEM Council and the Project Operations Department (POD), STEM Connect served as a culminating event for students to bond with their fellow strand-mates, foster community, and create lasting memories as the final batch of the strand system.
STEM Chairperson Paris Mabato and Student Ambassadors Program (SAP) Overall Secretary Adrian Aen Zafra hosted the program and officially welcomed the participants.
The event began with an icebreaker, which involved the students grouping themselves based on prompts that allowed them to know each other’s shared interests and opinions.
Following this, the students were given time to eat and share their food.
The next game was Poetry for Neanderthals, wherein students guessed words through one-syllable descriptions, challenging their ability to communicate with their peers.
All the STEM sections prepared time capsules, containing valuable items, trinkets, and class memorabilia, which was then presented by select representatives and judged by panelists from POD.
The students also played Chain of Stars, a game that required students to collaborate with each other in order to complete a sentence, one word at a time per person.
There was an announcement of overall section winners, following the rubric of 30% attendance, 40% time capsule, and 30% class bingo, which was an asynchronous activity that was submitted on the day of.
The first place was hailed to 12-Miki, who received pizza as their prize; meanwhile, second place was awarded to 12-Oldcorne and third place to 12-Xavier.
