ATENEOBLUECLOUD IN BASIC EDUCATION
- Structured – An online learning setup will now prioritize the student’s learning time. This is the amount of time a student needs to focus on his academics to acquire learning outcomes or results while at home. Daily check-ins, reasonable academic learning time, regular consultation periods, and non-academic days are integrated in the student’s online education.
- Inclusive and Flexible – AteneoBlueCloud in Basic Education will utilize various modes (i.e. fully online, blended, face-to-face) and technologies in delivering courses and lessons while considering the student’s needs and context. Learning materials will be available in low-bandwidth versions online regardless of internet connectivity strength or readily printable Learning Packages, which may be picked up from school.
- Holistic – Following the holistic Jesuit formation of the whole person, the Basic Education will continue to offer its academic and non-academic formation programs.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
- Content – Guided by the Ignatian principle of non multa sed multum (not many but much), students will be taught to critically reflect on their experiences leading them further towards action with purpose and impact.
- Delivery – Learning experiences will be delivered in a modular manner, followed by an appropriate form of assessment and then lastly, integration of content and assessment across disciplines. Subject teachers will give constant and consistent feedback as necessary support to attain learning goals.
- Grading – Students will be given non-numerical or qualitative academic marks, focusing on evidence of learning and degree of mastery instead of numerical measure of student performance.
NON-ACADEMIC FORMATION PROGRAMS
- Spiritual Formation – As a Jesuit and Catholic school, the Basic Education maintains to nurture the personal relationship of students with God through daily online masses, other school-wide masses, and the consciousness examen among others. The Campus Ministry Office, together with the CLE subject area have also crafted age-appropriate programs and formation activities that involve parents/guardians.
- Guidance Services – The school will provide psycho-emotional support and ensures the presence of counselors to accompany the students in their journey.
- Student Activities – Co-curricular activities such as student organizations, clubs, and other committees will be continued through online platforms (synchronous and/or asynchronous) during a designated activity period once week.
- Homeroom Program – The Class Moderator will continue its role in the character formation of students as they monitor the student’s well-being and closely coordinate with the students and their parents/guardians.
- Code of Discipline – As part of adapting to online education, a unique code of discipline will be implemented this year.
- Social Concern and Development – As off-campus activities are restricted, Online service-learning sessions and activities related to social involvement, Christian service, development of compassion, and being stewards of creation among others, will be made available to students as well as integration of these activities to other subjects.
- Community-building – Taking into consideration the current crisis and context which affects everyone, the contribution and cooperation of each stakeholder is crucial in implementing online education and its mission.
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL SAMPLE SCHEDULE
The ASHS will continue to divide the school year into two semesters. Each semester will be further divided into two, where students will take up four subjects for each half semester.
The primer provides a sample schedule. Grade 12 schedules are similar and vary by strand.
