President Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ, released a memo on May 7, 2020 detailing how the Ateneo de Manila University is reimagining the incoming school year.
Fr. Jett announced the new academic calendar for the Basic Education Unit, instead of the original June 2020 to March 2021 calendar. The new academic calendar will now be from August 4, 2020 to April 30, 2021
Fr. Jett also introduced AteneoBlueCloud (ABC) and Adaptive Design for Learning to adapt to the present circumstances. ABC will brand the university’s virtual campus, bringing together the “vibrant online community of learners and educators.” The Adaptive Design for Learning will serve as the University’s framework in addressing the students’ needs in online learning. This also included assistance to students with problems in connecting online. Further details about the AteneoBlueCloud and Adaptive Design for Learning will follow in the coming days.
The University also decided not to increase tuition or fees across all levels despite the government-approved increase to help ease the financial burden of the students. The University also assured that they will also work hard to expand their scholarship and financial aid programs even further.
The University also assured that they will continue to make the necessary and critical infrastructure adjustments to ensure all four of our campuses remain safe for everyone, for when they deem on-site education can already happen. Unit heads will release additional specific guidelines in the coming days.
“I also take this opportunity to thank all our students, faculty, staff, professionals, administrators, alumni, parents, friends, and benefactors who have been truly generous in helping others during this pandemic that is like no other.” Fr. Jett said.
“I wish to assure the entire community that the Ateneo de Manila will open and that we are ready for the academic year ahead. Education is more than just work for us. It is our vocation and mission.” Fr. Jett added.
Fr. Jett ended the note by assuring the entire community that the Ateneo de Manila will open and ready for the academic year ahead.
