Resilience. Unity. Optimism. Whenever we, FIlipinos, face difficulties, we make sure we get through it no matter what. The pandemic has brought upon us a lot of new ordinances and changes. Most of these changes challenged the Filipino in us. Nevertheless, we are facing the pandemic head on.
- In Sickness and in Health
One thing is for sure we will always embody the bayanihan spirit no matter what. In fact, it is innate to each and everyone of us. In dark times like this, our desire to help our kababayans does not waver. The young and the old, the rich and the poor, may it be someone we know or a complete stranger, we do not hesitate to help. We know that we can get through these challenges as long as we are hand in hand with our brothers and sisters.
- What is Essential is Invisible to the Eye
We are battling a deadly virus that is invisible with another invisible thing which is faith. Faith is something that cannot be seen yet it can do wonders. Despite mass gatherings being stopped, FIlipinos do not fail to attend to their religious obligations. Thanks to technology, we get to hear mass at the comfort of our homes.
- One Seat Apart
We are used to seeing a jeepney that is full of passengers wherein there is literally no space left. Most of us have witnessed how people fit in the jeepney as much as possible. However, the current situation changed this norm. Before the ECQ was implemented and when there was still public transportation available, jeepney drivers innovated the seats to impose strict social distancing.
- Cardo Dalisay’s Worst Enemy
Admit or not, this show has been making us wonder when it will end because it seems like Cardo Dalisay, the show’s protagonist, is immortal. The pandemic was able to answer our curiosity sinceit is the virus that was able to put a stop (well, temporarily) to his adventures.
- No Hangouts (for the meantime)
Having some of the largest malls in the world proves how much Filipinos love to spend time and hang out at the mall. Despite this, malls had to close down and necessary stores were the only ones allowed to function. It is already summer vacation and most of us would be at the mall every now and then if there was no threat of COVID-19. Nevertheless, we are managing to stay at home during the enhanced community quarantine. Let us just save that gala for next time.
We have never imagined these things to actually happen but this just proves that we can survive the worst of the worst situations. Things that we never imagined to actually change have become different since the outbreak of the virus. We are Filipinos and we are more than any obstacle out there. May we continue to stand strong and to keep our faith amid this hard time. We can get through this as long as our actions are always for the common good.
