The ASHS has officially started SY 2020-2021 and with the new online set-up, new rules and regulations have been set in place to maintain discipline.
The IT Services Office sent the SHS Online Learning Primer to the OBF accounts of the senior high students last July 27. It included all the changes in the rules, regulations and processes that will happen in this online set-up.
Discipline
The rules of this school year have been adjusted to fit in the circumstances we are in right now.
Tardiness
Students may be considered late if they enter the meeting room 10 minutes after the start of the session.
Absences
Students will need to request their parent/guardian to send an email to the teacher concerned and cc their Strand Coordinator within 2 days of their absence.
Dress Code
During Synchronous sessions, students must wear t-shirts with sleeves without any inappropriate print or text, shorts and the hair must not cover the eyes.
Behavior
Behavior during synchronous and asynchronous sessions will be measured in three areas, namely, Self-management; Respect for others; and Academic integrity. Evaluations will be conducted and graded as follows
- 4 – The student demonstrates this value almost all the time.
- 3 – The student demonstrates this value sometimes.
- 2 – The student rarely demonstrates this value.
- 1 – The student has not demonstrated this value at all.
Each area of behavior will be accumulated and will correspond to a conduct mark
- Outstanding – 11 to 12
- Satisfactory – 9 to 10
- Needs Improvement – 8 or below
Academic Affairs
The online set-up has pushed the ASHS to impose a new grading system and assessment for the students
A notable change is that the school year is now divided into four quarters, as opposed to last school year being divided only into two semesters.
The ASHS has opted for a Qualitative Grading System in these times as “focus is on the learning process, rather than the product”. The Qualitative Marks to be given are as follows:
- Exemplary
- Proficient
- Lacks Proficiency
The Office of the Assistant Principal on Academic Affairs has announced that this year the honors system will not be in place to ensure that students are to aim for Self Mastery, and that the award the students should be striving for is to survive this pandemic with the greater community, the greater humanity.
the award the students should be striving for is to survive this pandemic with the greater community, the greater humanity.
Assessments will now be based on Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) to be set by the subject teacher at the beginning of the quarter, and these will determine the qualitative grade at the end of each quarter.
Formative assessments will be used in tracking the learning progress of the student, however, Summative Assessments will still be in place to gauge whether students were able to attain learning outcomes.
Effort Marks will still be given by the subject teachers every quarter, these marks have also been given due consideration to the different circumstances that students may face. The Effort Marks to be given are as follows:
- (O) Outstanding – Demonstrated work effort that exceeded expectations given the student’s unique situation
- (S) Satisfactory – Consistently worked on and submitted the tasks on time
- (NS) Not Satisfactory – Inconsistent or lacking in the delivery of the assigned tasks
Student Activities
For SY 2020 – 2021 joining student involvements is not required, however, the (2) two student involvement limit still stands.
The schedules of the activity period are, Fridays at 2:00 to 3:00 PM and Fridays at 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
All ASHS Varsity programs and teams will continue to operate, in the hopes that inter-school competitions will resume with the clearance from health government units.
Exit Interviews for Seniors will be conducted at the beginning of the 2nd Semester, these interviews will be in small groups and administered by a member of the ASHS Faculty.
Non-Academic Affairs
The online set-up has not deterred the ASHS to provide Non-Academic Formation.
The Homeroom Program aims to provide guidance and formation for the students to be given by the Class Moderators. This is also a time where attendance will be checked synchronously and asynchronously in Google Meet or Zoom and Google Classroom respectively.
There will be three (3) synchronous morning check-ins, one (1) of which will be by class number, and 2 asynchronous morning check-ins.
