Fr. Joaquin Jose Mari “Jonjee” C. Sumpaico III, SJ, the Vice President for Basic Education has announced that the online learning set-up shall continue for S.Y. 2021-2022.
In a memo addressed to the Basic Education Community, Fr. Sumpaico noted the actions that the community has done to face the current challenges, from the administrators to the students and families.
“Everyone has tried to make ends meet in a n online Ateneo de Manila Basic Education learning environment” he said.
Fr. Sumpaico has also described the reduced physical operations of the institution and how the online set-up had brought about increased costs due to introduction and maintenance of essential online learning systems.
The Ateneo de Manila University has assured the community that they “will continue to innovate and improve [their] online modes of learning, formation and services.”
The memo said that they “recognize the fact that many of our students’ families are still recovering from the financial repercussions of this global crisis” and for the incoming school year they have decided that the tuition and other fees will not exceed the rates right before the pandemic.
In addition, Fr. Sumpaico said that they “shall continue the mission of promoting competence, commitment, conscience, compassion, and Christ-centeredness as we carry on [with the school year]”
