Ateneo’s Music Industry Organization releases Timebound

The Ateneo’s Music Industry Organization (MIO) has launched their album, Timebound, and made it accessible on various streaming platforms this Friday, 11th of June, 2021, with the memories of the past school year being represented throughout the 16-track album.

Timebound also serves as the leave-taking of the Graduating Batch of 2021 as they move on and bid goodbyes to their high school years.

The album launch was live-streamed on MIO’s YouTube channel and served as a fundraiser event for their chosen beneficiary, Philippine General Hospital, which was recently hit by a fire that severely affected parts of the medical institution.

If you wish to donate, kindly access the form: https://forms.gle/kDFREtueEV6tPSoP8. MIO will be accepting donations until June 15, 2021.

In an interview with the Outgoing MIO Head Crete Martin Padilla, he described the different creative processes of both bands and solo artists of the organization in producing the album.

“For bands, writing new songs and recording were much harder because not being together in the same room really hinders your creative flow. As for solo artists, learning the whole process of recording music as well as having to learn different instruments for specific parts in songs took a while for them to get used to,” he said.

He added that the recording process was also a challenge for the organization as they had to personally acquire equipment due to the absence of physical studios.

Padilla also claimed that Timebound is MIO’s most ambitious album as this contains the most songs among their previous releases as well as being made in the midst of the pandemic.

“This is also the first full album we’ve released that is available on all streaming platforms, joined by our EP that was released earlier this school year, Randy’s Room. We did this so that more people can easily access and listen to music made by our artists,” he said.

Additionally, this is the first time the organization has worked with an experienced audio engineer who professionally mixed and mastered all songs from the album.

“With this, we had to go face a lot of hurdles in order for the album to sound like it does today,” Padilla said.

The Incoming MIO Head Ruthie Marciano then assured that as long as MIO is active, more songs and projects can be expected from the organization.

“This coming year, we aim to allow our members to break out of their shells so as to write unique and carefully crafted music that speaks to themselves and other people. We hope our listeners will enjoy what we have in store this coming year,” she stated.
