The suspect, identified as Arvin Tan, was arrested earlier, 13th of July, after he refused to pay for his hotel bills, which led to a police pursuit by the authorities from Quezon City to Manila.
The long chase ended around noon along the streets of Recto Avenue after multiple gunshots were fired in order to stop and nab the 46-year old man.
According to the Quezon City Police District, the suspect is facing multiple charges including estafa, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, and multiple damages to property.
Tan reportedly checked in at the hotel located at Timog Ave, Quezon City, at around 11 PM yesterday, July 12. When he was about to check out the next day at 10 AM, he “failed to pay his bill and instead demanded for cash amounting to P20,000,” as said by the police.
Right when the hotel personnel was contacting the Kamuning Police Station, Tan tried to flee riding his BMW car, hitting the police vehicle and motorcycle.
“During the conduct of hot pursuit operation, the suspect bumped several private vehicles, LTO (Land Transportation Office) mobile cars, motorcycle, and other vehicles,” stated in a police report.
The suspect was then cornered at Recto Ave., near Nicanor Reyes Street., Manila, and was placed under arrest. Tan suffered from injuries and his car was also damaged during the pursuit operation.
