BTS surpassed themselves once more as their new song “Permission To Dance” overtakes the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, replacing their own song “Butter” after seven weeks and marking their fourth number one on the said chart.

Billboard Hot 100 is a chart released weekly and is ranked by radio airplay audience impressions, sales data, and streaming activity provided by online music sources.

The seven-member K-Pop Boy Group expressed their joy and gratitude to their fans, ARMYs, through a tweet shortly after Billboard released the updated Hot 100 chart where they surpassed other prominent artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, and Doja Cat.

Permission To Dance is a song co-written by Ed Sheeran, released on July 9, 2021 to accompany their newly released CD single, “Butter.”

“Wrote this song a while ago and so happy it’s being heard on such a world stage and being sung by such talented people,” Ed Sheeran said in a tweet along with a video of the musician grooving to the song.

The song follows the same theme as “Butter,” it is a literal reminder that you do not need anyone’s permission to dance or bask in positivity.

BTS has also partnered up with Youtube as they launch a new dance challenge centered around the song from July 23 to August 14.

Everyone can participate by uploading a video to YouTube shorts doing the moves in the song’s music video, featuring the international sign language gestures for “peace,” “dance,” and “joy.”

The new “Butter” CD Single is composed of  “Butter,” “Permission To Dance,” their respective instrumentals that come in two versions, Peaches and Cream, available for purchase via Weverse, Amazon, and HMV.
