#Tumindig Online Movement Continues To Grow in the ASHS

By Ana Rufa Padua

Several Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) organizations and committees join the #Tumindig online campaign to stand up for their own advocacies and their right to freedom and democracy.

Hi-Lites– the official ASHS student publication, Alunsina– the committee for Filipino culture appreciation, Grafiction– the organization for comics and arts, and Ateneo Film Organization– the organization for filmmaking and film reviews are only some of the organizations who have participated in the campaign, displaying their own versions of the fist with symbolisms of their advocacies.

Some teachers such as Sir Vincent Loiz– CLE teacher, Sir Jan Henry Choa Jr.– Filipino teacher, and Ms. Caroline Laforteza– GA Strand Coordinator also participated in the #Tumindig campaign, standing in solidarity with Tarantadong Kalbo (@KevinKalbo).

The #Tumindig Online Campaign was ignited by Kevin Eric Raymundo or Tarantadong Kalbo on July 17 when he posted an illustration on Twitter showing numerous fists bowing down except one that was standing up and glowing among the crowd, representing courage in going against today’s oppressive forces.

Although the artist did not really intend for the piece to go viral, netizens took it as a headstart to fight for good governance and the right to democracy by creating their own versions of the fists.

Raymundo encourages those who wish to participate in the campaign to use the hashtag #Tumindig as he tries to compile the entries into one image.

You may access the transparent (.png) file of the fist here, should you wish to participate in the online campaign,  the artist has also provided a Facebook frame under the name “Tumindig by Tarantadong Kalbo” for those who have no means to edit the png file.
