HumSS Sa Akin Ka Nalang, a month-long celebration of love, draws to an end

By Raphaella Sarangaya

As the month of February ends, HumSS Sa Akin Ka Nalang, a collaborative project of the HumSS Council, HumSS Projects committee, and 10 other OSCCs, comes to a close.

Throughout the month of love, various synchronous and asynchronous activities related to the theme “Tagpo,” the yearning to meet and celebrate special connections of love with people in the ASHS community, were executed.

Among these activities are the following:

  • HumSS Council’s love seal certificates and HumSS Kapatid
  • French Legion’s “Le Premier Rendezvous”
  • Grafiction and Pugad’s three-part webcomic series, “Mahal kong…”
  • Art Guild and BTTA’s “I See the Light”
  • Mapulon’s “The Gist of Us”
  • IndAK’s “Love Me Like That”
  • BTTA’s “Love on Shuffle”
  • AFO’s “La Dona de Ora”
  • Lakambini’s “Beyond the Stars”
  • APCO’s episode about the concept of love in Radyo Katipunan.

In an interview with the HumSS Chairperson, Henri To, the theme “Tagpo” was initially meant to give prominence to students in the ASHS meeting up for the first time and reuniting with their loved ones.

However, due to the Omicron surge that happened at the beginning of the year, they modified the theme of the project to “hoping to see each other once again” for the members of the ASHS community to resonate with it more while stuck in their own homes temporarily.

Apart from that, To mentioned that HumSS Sa Akin Ka Nalang is the biggest and only celebration-centered project that HumSS has executed this school year, which makes it different from other projects that the Council has been planning to execute during the school year.

Behind the success of this month-long event, To stated that the proponents of the project encountered various challenges and difficulties in terms of planning and execution of the various activities.

“Because of how big the project is, the logistics could really be difficult, juggling all the OSCCs while also having our own subprojects from HumSS alone. It’s hard to communicate with so many parties and get everyone to be on the same page. Every aspect is so different that you need to have a different mindset every time you shift to each part because of what specific objectives each have and what they aim to deliver as a whole,” he said.

However, through proper delegation and organization of tasks among the proponents, they were able to overcome all the challenges they encountered.

After executing a successful project, To reassured that the council is set on implementing more projects for HumSS, including HumSS Week, Pause Check-Up Forms, HOSH, HumSSeum, Hapagkainan, and a project that is yet to be revealed.
