Tarot cards
: a deck of cards with images on them that is used to prophesy. Readings provide insight into past, present, and future occurrences according to the person’s current path at the time of the reading and are best utilized as a tool of inner wisdom and guidance.
Like a mythical being with no tale of truth, you take on more names and forms than any other yet nothing could ever be deemed absolute. The strand with the stowaways, the strand with characters, the ones who can’t bring their minds to be made, and the fantastic jack of all trades. Children of playing cards, those who reside here. Suits of colors, shapes, personality, and vibrance hidden under the umbrella of the name.
Come, GA. Take a seat, open your mind, and draw three cards. Let’s find out who you are.
Reversed Two of Swords
In your past, you have always been perceived in a negative light. The reversed two of swords tells us that your mind has been filled with so much confusion and indecision. A mythical stalemate in which two forces are pitted against one another. This struggle can reflect either something inside or external and you’re stuck in the middle as the decision-maker. It stills your body. You can be uninspired or unmotivated since you do not have any direction. You might not know what you actually want to do with your life at this time. You’re stuck and don’t know how to get out. It holds you hostage and you do not know where to go or how or where to move towards. Claw desperately to try to break free.
GA, often you are seen as this secondary location. The place where people go when they are deemed not good enough to find their place anywhere else. Not good enough at science or math, at writing or communicating. The place to go to when there is no direction or care, the place to go to because they feel as if there would be no burden to bear. The assumption is that, when students are confused, unremarkable, or move about with no direction, you are the place to go. It takes on a generalist approach so it must be easier than the others, it gives you time to think of what you would like to focus on so it must be looser than the others. The General Academic Strand; the safe choice, the last choice.
But that is not what you are.
The Knight of Cups
The reality is that of all the Knight cards in the tarot, the Knight of Cups is the most feminine. It’s important to note, however, that this in no way implies that he’s a less deserving knight. It means that he is in touch with his emotions and instincts and that he employs them for his personal well-being as well as in his pursuits. When faced with a difficult decision, the Knight of Cups will follow his heart no matter what. Knowing who he is and accepting that, he chooses what he is passionate about. He can also appear in our lives as an event or a person, or as a part of ourselves. The knight may appear as a messenger, carrying an invitation, an arrival, or something or someone that will provide you with a great benefit. As a knight, he is responsible for taking the gifts he receives and disseminating them throughout the globe. As a result, he can also represent a project or effort that has great emotional or creative significance for you.
GA, you are a marvel to behold. Despite the hurdles of your past and how differently others still continue to see you, you never fail to rise victorious. Poles apart from the rest in terms of curriculum, paths, and meaning yet by no means beneath any of them. You are the strand with chance, opportunity, and discovery. Every single person within your embrace is given the comfort to shine and grow, to find out who they truly are and what they are passionate about— are given the spirit and bravery to follow their hearts. You accept all of the differences, the craziness, the quirkiness, and the versatility of all your people and that is why you are beyond what is effable.
In your best personification, you are a messenger carrying the most ethereal of letters. So, narrate to me an epic tale; the story of a warrior’s trials and tribulations, their journey of self-discovery, and their wondrous moment of victory. Tell me the stories of the artists who paint the colors of their souls, who play to the strings of their hearts, and who mold their words into vessels as free as the birds. Dear messenger, tell me all about the letters of curiosity and intelligence, of endless ideas and unfathomable wit. Keep us in wonder, keep us in joy, keep us in the peak of auroras and inspiration, and be proud of us even as we fall.
None of this is speculation, GA. It is your absolute truth.
Four of Wands
The Four of Wands herald celebration as well as a harmonious, cheerful, and calm home. In numerology, the number four represents stability and particularly reliable foundations. The Card shows us a couple dancing beneath a welcome wreath that is tied between four crystal-tipped wands and a flower canopy that is akin to the one used in traditional Jewish ceremonies. The image depicts a celebration of fulfillment and happiness brought on by the achievement of a goal. If you’ve been working on a project for a while, this card indicates that you’ll be hitting a significant milestone– a reason to celebrate. You’ve completed a critical phase of a certain endeavor and you have every reason to be proud and content.
Stand proud and look joyously towards your future. How glorious it is to be able to dive into new ideas and opportunities. To be given the chance to go places discoverable by only you, and by the end of it all, to still have a place to come to and call home. Everything you have built, everything you have worked for and fought for, is all worth it. For all your difference and diversity, the world is nothing if not wholly yours. Keep your eyes and arms open because it’s coming, the happiness, passion, abundance, and contentedness– it is all for you, GA.
