With the voting precincts now closed, election-related violence have been reported all over the country, resulting in the deaths, injuries, and destruction of property.
On the eve of the National Elections, a teacher assigned to the election board, Ms. Mercy Miguel, was shot dead in Himamaylan, Negros Occidental.
One reported dead in Binidayan town, Lanao del Sur after a scuffle involving supporters of the opposing local candidates in the said town. In the same place, six were reported dead in a separate election-related incident.
In Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City, Barangay Councilor Jose Quiros was shot dead by unidentified assailants.
In Buluan, Maguindanao, a shooting incident occurred killing three poll watchers and wounding one.
In Marawi, army troops have responded to a series of audible gunshots.
Three separate cases of explosions were reported by the Philippine National Police in Datu Unsay with an unidentifiable number of casualties, Shariff Aguak with no casualties, and Datu Piang with six injured.
As of three in the afternoon, Police Colonel Jean Fajardo reports that the Philippine National Police has monitored a total of 15 reported incidents of election-related violence.
