Carlos Yulo took home a silver and a bronze for the vault and parallel bar divisions, respectively, at the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Liverpool, England from October 29 to November 6.

Yulo was denied a back-to-back gold, finishing with an average score of 14.950 for the men’s vault final behind Armenia’s Artur Davtyan’s 15.050 points.

Wanting to redeem himself for the earlier errors in the men’s all-around and floor finals, Yulo, who was the third performer at the vault, took the lead for a brief moment after scoring a 15.000 on his first run with a handspring pike double front half regardless of him landing a bit out of bounds.

However, Yulo’s landing was recognized as a costly mistake and was demerited .10 points following a score of 14.900, which resulted in his downfall, proceeding with an average of 14.950 of the two attempts.

“My first vault is not ready yet. It was a great challenge for me, and great preparation for next year. I’m really happy that I made it, even though it’s not gold in the end, it’s [still] silver,” Yulo said.

Meanwhile, Yulo scored 15.366 for third place in the high-scoring parallel bars finals, going behind the reigning Tokyo Olympic champion Zou Jingyuan of China, with a 16.166 score for gold, and Lukas Dauser of Germany, who bagged 15.500 for silver
