Kamala Harris ends PH visit in Palawan

United States of America Vice President Kamala Harris ended her “historic” trip to the Philippines with a visit to Palawan on Tuesday, November 22, meeting the fishing community and the stationed Philippine Coast Guard.

Harris spoke to locals residing at Tagburos village, a fishing community in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, and delivered a speech aboard the Philippine Coast Guard’s BRP Teresa Magbanua. 

“To all of you here today, I say: The US-Philippines alliance is strong. We are committed to you. We are committed to your success. And to all the lives and livelihoods that rely on your work,” Harris said, vowing the commitment of the US to the Philippines.

Furthermore, Harris stated that the US would defend the Philippines if attacked in the West Philippine Sea because as an ally in the face of intimidation and coercion in the South China Sea.

Kamala Harris concluded with a message to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), reminding them that they uphold vital rules and norms for the prosperity of Filipinos and people worldwide.

The US Vice President shook hands with each PCG personnel before departing for the Puerto Princesa International Airport.
