Headed by the Humanities and Social Sciences (HumSS) Council, the annual project “HumSS Sa Akin Ka Na Lang” was launched in February in the Ateneo Senior High School, with the theme “Pangako“, spicing up the celebration of Valentine’s Day.

According to Elise Molina, the strand chairperson, “Pangako” was chosen to be the theme for 2023 as a continuation of last year’s “Tagpo“, wherein two strings of fate became closer and formed a pinky promise.

“It is also a good reminder that we are only here in senior high school for two years, we have to make the most out of it. After all of these, we are not going to see each other that often again, so it is important to keep our promise of caring and loving each other, even as we graduate and step out of the ASHS,” Molina added.

The said event had eight participating organizations and five initiatives this year, namely, the Music Industry Organization’s “MIO-ne and Only”, Pugad and Matanglawin’s “Send-A-Succulent”, ABM Council’s “Shoot Your Shot”, “Be Our Guest” of French Legion and Symphonic Ensemble, and lastly, Lakambini and Ateneo Film Organization’s “Love Lounge”, that are open to all strands in the ASHS.

The HumSS Council chose activities they deemed enjoyable and needed the most by the ASHS community, allowing collaborations between different organizations to have more manpower and diversity.

The primary beneficiary this year is the Cribs Foundation, a non-government organization that caters to orphaned, abused, and neglected children, providing them a new home where they can restore themselves.

“Valentine’s Day is a special occasion, and not everyone has the opportunity to celebrate it properly with their means. It is also a great way for Atenistas to spread our love to other people outside our vicinity, through participating in our activities…I really want to emphasize that sharing our love doesn’t need to be within the ASHS only, but it should really extend to outside and wherever we can reach to help,” Molina ended.

The ABM Council will give all their proceeds to Cribs Foundation, while Pugad and Matanglawin will donate 50% to cover succulent expenses.
