After the recent win at Dance Supremacy under the Kings’ Division, the Ateneo High School Indayog ng Atenistang Kabataan (AHS IndAK) placed 3rd at the World of Dance Philippines competition held on March 12, 2023, at the UP Theater in UP Diliman.
Besides the podium finish of 2nd runner-up, the team also garnered an award for Best in Costume. This victory led the dancers to engage as a contender at the International World of Dance Competition in Anaheim, California.
Moreover, AHS IndAK Captain Pierre Hermosa said the preparations for the said competition consisted of heavy cardio-centric exercises to anticipate the energy demanded by the choreography.
In contrast to the previous piece at Dance Supremacy, the choreography presented in the recent competition emulated a fresh and cheerful nature while retaining the quality and maturity of the movements.
It drifted from the typical “attack” nature of their competition pieces to emphasize the performance’s entertainment aspect.
Hermosa added that while posing as tricky at the beginning, the members “successfully adjusted” to the change of approach and proficiently delivered the performance.
While moving to the end of the school year and towards the next gigs and competitions, IndAK plans to move forward by sharing more dance pieces to be enjoyed.
“You should also stay tuned as we have numerous gigs at various events in the near future, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve got,” the team captain concluded.
