In the afternoon of Thursday, July 6, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Zambales, with effects felt in different parts of Luzon.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake was located at 15.42°N, 119.67°E – 26 kilometers S 87° W of Palauig, Zambales.
Occurring at 3:16 P.M., the seismic activity’s focus was 46 kilometers deep. As of writing, the PHIVOLCS advisory stated that no damages and aftershocks are expected.
Additionally, Intensity III was felt in Botolan, Iba, Cabangan, and San Marcelino, Zambales, as well as in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
With the tremor hitting Quezon City, faculty and staff of Ateneo Senior High School immediately evacuated to the field in front of the Formation Learning Center.
Students taking up their Ateneo Senior High Advancement Classes were also gathered in the aforementioned area, leaving no reported casualties on the campus.
