On Friday, September 29, cheers of joy filled the second floor of the Formation Learning Center (FLC) Building as the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) community gathered together to participate in “Ligaya,” a bingo event hosted and led by the Assembly of Class Officers (ACO) and the sponsors.

There were a variety of prizes donated by fellow members of ASHS community, including gift certificates, appliances, electronics, and cash prizes for the participants.

“Ang plano po kasi ng ACO kada taon ay ipakita ang appreciation sa mga custodians, mga faculty,” Travis San Agustin, the STEM Secretary, stated. He added that Ligaya was also a bridge for the class officers to show their initiative and skills as one of the pillars of such events.

The bingo event was held to raise money to purchase grocery packages for the ASHS faculty, staff, custodians, and other non-teaching personnel in light of the celebration of Duffy-Delaney Day (D3).

D3, also known as Formator’s Day, is a momentous yearly tradition for the ASHS community that aims to honor formators for their service and commitment to the betterment of the school.

In celebration of D3, several activities are conducted to show utmost gratitude and appreciation to the formators. These are comprised of audio-visual presentations, Palanca letters, and fundraiser events like “Ligaya.”

‘WIN-WIN SITUATION’

“Sa pag-prepare po ng event, medyo matagal po ‘yung pagplano,” San Agustin expressed.

There were many preparations for this event to be successful, one of which was the amount of funds to handle. Despite this, the ACO believes that it is for a good cause.

“It’s a way to show our appreciation para sa kanilang mga ginagawa. At para malaman [nila] na hindi lamang ang mga estudyante ang hindi nag-iisa, pati ‘yung mga non-teaching personnel,” San Agustin affirmed.

Students like Jaime Casaje, who partook in the Bingo game, also extended their support towards the ASHS formators by participating in the event. According to him, as the crowd filled the room with excitement, it was evident that members of the ASHS community were having a lot of fun.

“In addition to that, nakakatulong pa tayo sa mga custodians. It’s a win-win situation for everyone,” Casaje concluded.

Aside from the Bingo, the ACO launched game stations at the first-floor foyer, namely, Mario Kart, Just Dance, and Basketball, which also served as fundraising events for D3.
