On Wednesday, October 4, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Strand started its week-long initiative called “STEM Connect” through an onsite program held in the Formation Learning Center (FLC) building.
This event aimed to strengthen the bonds of each STEM class by promoting camaraderie and teamwork by means of various activities such as a quiz bee, class tower making, class cheer making, class car making, and games such as “bring me.”
“We understand that the seniors and the juniors are going through an adjustment period with their new classes. We wanted to provide an event where class camaraderie and teamwork will really be focused on,” Ika Baquir, the STEM Chairperson, stated in an interview.
“With this type of project, we really wanted them to bond with one another and open new paths for friendships to be formed,” she added.
Baquir said that STEM Connect is an avenue for STEM students to rest, relax, and enjoy with their classmates and strandmates as a moment of respite from academics.
Winning teams
After showing their teamwork during the onsite program, class cheer making, and class car making, the sections of 11-Perez and 12-Miki emerged first place in their respective batches.
The winning sections were rewarded with a pizza party and a trophy.
Postponement
The STEM Connect onsite FLC program was initially scheduled on September 25. However, it was postponed to October 4 due to class cancellations and health-related concerns of students.
“We had to postpone the event [because] we wanted to prioritize the health of the STEM students first,” Baquir said.
The week-long event officially ended on October 11, 2023, after the STEM classes finalized and submitted their respective class cars.
