The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics District (STEMD) of the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) has started its project, STEMDy Buddy, a series of study halls for various science subjects. from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. in Room 319.

The study halls for Physics and Biology were held last February 14 and February 23 respectively. The first Chemistry study commenced last February 19, with the next being scheduled for March 1.

Mr. Mardocheo Y. Crispino, Mr. Adrian Phillip N. Ong, and Mr. Efren M. Suratos Jr. are the teachers for General Biology II, General Chemistry II, and General Physics II, respectively.

The lessons that were given in class would be reviewed during the sessions in order to clarify any misunderstandings and ensure that everyone understands complex concepts.

Practice problems and worksheets were also provided to help the students improve their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

“In line with the district’s purpose—to cater to all STEM-related interests and advocacies to provide avenues for growth and development, STEMDy Buddy intends to provide additional learning time and resources to students with the goal of improving their academic performance,” STEMD Head Samantha Sy said.

“This would also encourage students to share their knowledge to others who may be struggling the same as they do,” she added.

Great help

With several study halls having passed, students have found STEMDy Buddy to be a great avenue to help deepen their understanding of their lessons.

“STEMDy Buddy has been such a great help for me, providing an extra session of lectures from my teachers for me to further understand my lessons. The worksheets they distribute are also such great help, especially for me who prefers practical and hands-on learning, in which the worksheets provide such challenging problems for me to rack my brains on,” Thomas Gabriel Ponio from 12-Miki expressed.

“Overall, it has been a great event for me. Deep inside, there is a what if scenario of what could have been if it was implemented earlier, but nonetheless, it is a helpful, efficient, and practical way to help our students with their studies,” he concluded.

STEMDy Buddy will launch its second wave of study halls during the second week of March, with the official dates still to be announced.
