On Friday, April 12, the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) grade 11 students gathered at the second-floor of the Formation Learning Center (FLC) to attend this year’s Miting de Avance (MDA) in preparation for the year-end election (YEE) on Wednesday, April 17.

The MDA gave aspiring ASHS Sanggunian members the opportunity to share their platforms and advocacies.

These candidates responded to questions curated by the Commission on Elections (ComElec), the student body, and their fellow candidates about their plans for the upcoming school year 2024-2025.

The MDA was originally intended to take place a week prior, but due to the declaration of online classes, it was postponed.

“Because of this, we had to redo reservations and adjust our timeline. We would really like to thank the SBD District or SINAG for their help, because they allowed us to use their venue and they delayed the time for their activity for us to conduct the MDA,” ComElec Chairperson Kirsten Erica Tequillo expressed.

This year’s theme, “SUNOD: Para sa ASHS, Para sa Susunod,” sought to embody the concept of being next in line, emphasizing not only assuming leadership roles but also embracing the spirit of service and responsibility that accompanies them.

“I hope that [grade 11 students] will vote wisely and that they use this opportunity to vote for the candidates they think can properly represent them and make an impact in the ASHS,” Chairperson Tequillo said.

“Following ComElec’s tagline, ‘Para sa Makabuluhang Pagpili,’ I hope that whoever they decide to elect in this year-end election is the most loving option, not only for them but for the whole senior high school community,” she concluded.
