The Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) community celebrated its Thanksgiving Mass through a mass on Thursday, April 25.

The Eucharistic Celebration coincided with the Feast of St. Mark Evangelist and was held on the third floor of the Formation Learning Center.

This event served as a way to give thanks to the Lord for His many blessings to the ASHS community throughout the year.

The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by the ASHS community chaplain, Fr. Edwin Castillo, SJ, and sponsored by the Class Kalakbays of both grades 11 and 12.

Given the extreme weather conditions experienced in Metro Manila during the past few days, classes have been shifted to the online modality.

Thus, this mass was also the final gathering of both juniors and seniors for school year 2023-2024, as also stated by Mr. Noel Miranda in his acknowledgement speech.

Sing forever

Fr. Castillo recognized the connection of the responsorial Psalm to Thanksgiving in his homily.

He connected the psalm, which was about forever singing the goodness of the Lord, to being grateful for all the blessings received by the ASHS community this year.

In addition, he mentioned that when someone is grateful for God’s love, it will shine through their love for others.

The students were dismissed right after the celebration, following the prompt for an emergency fire drill prepared by Sandigan Kanlaon.

This early dismissal also served as an opportunity for ASHS students to work on their pending schoolwork, as per the memorandum released the day before the mass.
