On Thursday, July 18, the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) Sanggunian conducted 4kibat: Tayo ang Sanggunian held at the third-floor Formation Learning Center (FLC) building and the ASHS main building, which aimed to equip the student leaders with knowledge about their responsibilities and processes of the ASHS for the upcoming school year.

The opening of the program and the general orientation happened at the third-floor FLC building, where Ms. Jennifer Concepcion, the Assistant Principal for Formation and Ms. Rosanna Borja, the ASHS Principal talked about student leadership and the essence of being a student leader in their speeches.

Yung title niyo, 4kibat: Tayo ang Sanggunian. I challenge you: it’s not just tayo; it’s tayô. Tumayô rin kayo. You have to stand for what you believe in, for different councils, and you have to stand for what the schools believe in,” Ms. Borja stated in her opening remarks.

On the other hand, another segment of the program happened at the ASHS main building, where the councils discussed the council-specific processes in their respective breakout rooms. Each district also talked about their goals and projects for the next school year.

“The purpose of Akibat is to be able to orient the senior org officers, or the OSCC officers, rather, of all departments and councils of the ASHS in Sanggunian, so that they would be more knowledgeable on not only their council processes but also the Sanggunian processes as a whole,” Arianne Co, the Vice President of the Council of Student Organizations, said.

“We realized that the officers weren’t as oriented in their junior year, so being able to be fully oriented on every process that’s needed and every project that’s executed in the year will be very helpful in the way that they run their OSCCs and will be very helpful in general, so they can also teach their juniors in the future,” she added.

Kaakibat

Akibat was attended by the officers from different councils, namely the Office of the President, the Assembly of Class Officers, the Athletes’ Council, the Council of Student Committees, and the Council of Student Organizations.

“Firstly, as the name suggests, kaakibat. Unang una, makikilala nila yung mga kaakibat nila in building a good Sanggunian. Basically, mahahanap nila yung mga councils and who they are gonna work with,” ABM Secretary Heather Pascua shared her opinion about the importance of this event as a student leader.

Aside from that, they are also gonna learn from workshops and team building, which is important for them. They can also learn the internal processes and be involved as a part of Sanggunian, she concluded.

The program ended with closing remarks from Mr. Tootsie de los Santos, the Student Activities and Council Moderator.
