The Ateneo Senior High School Office of the Assistant Principal for Administration (APAdmin), in partnership with the Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), facilitated a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training on October 28 to 29, in an effort to improve emergency preparedness and response while boosting community resilience.
With the participation of members of the ASHS Local Unit Emergency Response Team (LUERT), coaches, and Christian Service and Involvement Program (CSIP) and Tulong Dunong (TD) teachers, whom of which conduct classes outside campus, the following devoted their time to hands-on BLS training, ensuring their preparedness in the instance of a real-life emergency.
The attendees learned imperative lifesaving techniques, such as maneuvers to help with choking and aiding to specific body injuries. CPR on adults, children, and infants, including the urgency of timely intervention, was also discussed, underscoring the importance of equipping individuals in key community roles with essential first-aid skills.
This two-day, comprehensive course not only prepared individuals in key community roles for emergencies outside the university but also increased the portion of the senior-high population who can serve as first responders in urgent situations within the campus.
