On November 18, the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) community kicked off this year’s Advocacy Week themed “Ilaya,” in the ASHS Building, spearheaded by the Council of Student Committees (CSC), to push forward the different passions and advocacies of the student body

Shortly after the opening of the event, live music, played by the Music Industry Organization (MIO) in the ASHS building, welcomed incoming students.

CSC Sandigans, such as Alunsina, Idiyanale, Lakambini, Mapulon, Kanlaon, Matanglawin, and CSC Special Committees, like Fair, Bluebook, and Mayari, also organized booths, spread throughout the first-floor foyer from November 18 to 22, which showcased their different advocacies.

“The set-up process was rigorous, but it still made it a memorable experience from start to end,” Precious Madduma, Fair Committee and BlueBook member, noted regarding the preparation process for the booths in which mini-attractions, such as the Bente-Kwatro-Singko memory wall, were prepared.

“It was interesting to see the responses and to see what was important to them this ASHS school year,” she added.

Meanwhile, the week’s main event, a hair drive done in collaboration with Hair for Hope, was also a success. This encouraged students to donate their hair, which will be turned into wigs for cancer patients.

“I hope the ILAYA hair drive stuck to the students, as a sacrifice like hair could change a person’s life. I hope the ASHS continues to open its doors to more causes such as this in the future,” Madduma stated.

The event lasted until November 21, with the closing program held on the second floor of the Formation Learning Center (FLC).
