As the opening of the Holy Jubilee Year with the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” takes place this year, the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) community gathered together in a eucharistic celebration on Tuesday, January 14, at the third-floor of the Formation Learning Center building.
This tradition, proclaimed by the Universal Church, occurs every 25 years as a year of forgiveness and reconciliation, inviting people to reconnect with their relationships with God, one another, and the world around them.
The Holy Jubilee Year began on the Christmas Eve of 2024 and will end on January 6, 2026.
ASHS Chaplain Fr. Noel “Weng” Bava, SJ, presided over the mass, with his homily centered on forgiveness and hope.
He imparted different ways to become true pilgrims of hope and how to make our experiences more profound and meaningful.
The sponsors of the mass were the classes of 12-Arnaiz, which was assigned to create the publication materials, 12-Miki, which was assigned to the mass readings, and 12-Holland, with their class moderator as the commentator.
Alon and Araw Club, a non-profit organization for underprivileged children in Zambales, was the beneficiary of the mass.
Following the mass was a cheer rally for the athletes who will compete for the second half of UAAP Season 87.
The teams, including basketball girls and boys, beach volleyball, futsal, fencing, and football, were blessed by Fr. Weng in a special rite afterwards.
