On Friday, January 31, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics District (STEMD) of the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) launched “STEMDy Buddy,” a series of science subject study halls in the Maker’s Space room of the Formation and Learning Center.

The first study hall session was for General Physics II, which was led by Mr. Efren Suratos Jr.

During the sessions, the lessons taught in class were reviewed to clear up any misconceptions that the students may have.

Additionally, practice problems and worksheets were also provided to further help the students in improving their skills.

“STEMDy Buddy is a space where students can review their science lessons in a more relaxed setting. Subjects like Bio, Chem, and Physics can get pretty challenging, so these study hall sessions give students the chance to revisit past lessons, ask questions, and practice problems with the help of their teachers—all without the pressure of a regular class,” Mary Lagdameo, the STEMD head, said.

“We know how fast-paced science classes can be, and sometimes you just need a little extra time to fully grasp a topic. STEMDy Buddy was created to give students that opportunity—to catch up, clarify concepts, and build confidence in their learning. It also helps take some of the stress out of studying, knowing there’s dedicated time to focus and get support,” she added.

After its first study hall session, students have already found STEMDy Buddy to be helpful in preparing for their upcoming long tests.

“STEMDy Buddy is important as it helps students review for long tests with the help of teacher-provided materials and tutoring,” Andrea Lavega from 12-Pantalia shared.

“This initiative really helps students understand the topics better, enabling target grades to be more in their reach, especially as graduating students,” she concluded.

The next STEMDy Buddy session for General Biology II will be held on February 10 with Mr. Mardocheo Crispino. Meanwhile, the session for General Chemistry II with Mr. Adrian Phillip Ong will be held on February 17.
