On May 21, Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) students received awards during the revived Recognition Day, held on the second floor of the Formation and Learning Center (FLC) building, which highlighted their active participation and accomplishments in local and international events.

First to be awarded were the organizations and committees that have served the school and community, following the example of St. Ignatius de Loyola.

With this, Hi-Lites, Sandigan Kanlaon, and the Batch Project Committee (BPC) 12 were the recipients of the St. Ignatius Award for Groups and Projects.

Moreover, the Individual Achievement Award was given to students, as well as a member of the faculty, who have been “epitomes of excellence,” in various fields and placed in known competitions.

Notably, Mr. Nikko Jay Ramos from the Social Sciences Subject Area was the lone faculty member who received this award.

Furthermore, teams of Ateneans who won in various competitions in their respective fields were granted the Winning Teams Award.

Included are team members who garnered the following honors:

  • Quezon City Division Meet 2024 Champions, NCR Palaro Baseball Meet 2025 Champions
  • Indayog ng Atenistang Kabataan (IndAK), HS Kings Champion, Dance Supremacy International 2025

In addition, the Distinguished Individual Award was presented to students who won top prizes in national and international competitions.

The Magis Award was then conferred to the students who have embodied the Ignatian value of magis through their “humility, efficiency, and determined service,” to the community.

Josiah Graye Ong Ante, Shealtiel Joaquin Blanca, Darrine Cathrissa Santos, Stephanie Mejia, Sophia Isabella Reyes, and Irish Tonifleur Ordoña were the recipients of the award.

In her response as an awardee, Ordoña stated that “Magis does not mean being the best or giving the most as compared to others.”

“Sometimes, magis means giving just what you can, especially when you have little left to give,” she added.

The ASHS principal, Mrs. Rosanna Borja, released a memorandum dated April 21 in which she invited the ASHS community to nominate the deserving recipients for the St. Ignatius Award for Groups or Projects and the MAGIS Award for Distinguished Service.
