ASHS celebrates Christmas Thanksgiving Mass ‘25

By AJ Alarcon

On Friday, December 19, the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) community came together for a Eucharistic celebration of the Christmas Thanksgiving Mass themed “Hope endures, God fulfills,”  at the third-floor Formation and Learning Center (FLC).

Coinciding with the Third Week of Advent, the Mass was presided over by Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ, and sponsored by the Grade 12 classes of Acquaviva, Pantalia, and Xavier.

In his homily, Fr. Villarin explained how the world is filled with noise, and how people are now looking for silence.

“We need silence to value words … Ang salitang marami at hindi mahalaga ay mura,” he stated.

He added, “Words can bridge us to one another [and] can connect us to each other, like ‘thank you,’ ‘sorry,’ ‘forgive me,’ ‘I love you,’ and ‘I care for you.’”

He ended his homily by inviting the community to listen to the sound of Christmas — the night the  sound of Jesus broke the silence.

This was followed by the presentation of the Fair 2026 teaser and the Christmas program, before the classes proceeded to their respective classrooms for their class salusalo.

The celebration marks the last day before the Christmas break, which begins on Saturday, December 20; classes will resume on January 5, 2026.
