President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared special non-working holidays in various localities for January 2026 to give communities time to celebrate cultural and local historical events, covering seven municipalities, five cities, and one province as of Saturday, December 27.
Through Proclamation No. 1109, signed on December 1, the Municipality of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur will celebrate its 440th Founding Anniversary on January 5.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Bauang, La Union will also celebrate its 440th Founding Anniversary on January 5, declared a holiday through Proclamation No. 1114 signed on December 16.
Also signed on December 1, Proclamation No. 1110 declares January 6 a holiday in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, which will celebrate its 56th Charter Anniversary and 96th anniversary as the capital of the province of Misamis Occidental.
Moreover, Proclamation No. 1124 declares January 8 a holiday in the Municipality of Calubian, Leyte, in celebration of its Founding Anniversary.
Proclamation No. 1118, signed on December 16, also declares January 9 a holiday for the 86th Founding Anniversary of the City of Koronadal, South Cotabato, and its Koronadal Hinugyaw Festival.
Likewise, Marcos, through Proclamation No. 1117, declared January 16 a holiday in the City of Batangas to “allow residents to fully participate in the celebration of their city fiesta.”
On January 19, the Pasalamat Festival will be celebrated as a holiday in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur through Proclamation No. 1123, while Lipa City, Batangas will celebrate its Coffee Festival on January 20 under Proclamation No. 1120.
Furthermore, January 21 will be a holiday in the Municipality of Currimao, Ilocos Norte through Proclamation No. 1119 for the celebration of its Founding Anniversary.
The First Philippine Republic Inauguration Anniversary will also be commemorated as a holiday on January 23 in the province of Bulacan under Proclamation No. 1122.
Further, Proclamation No. 1121 declares January 26 a holiday in the Municipality of Carigara, Leyte in observance of its 455th Founding Anniversary.
On January 27, the Municipality of Tantangan, South Cotabato will mark its 65th Founding Anniversary and the 16th Kulitangtang Festival as a holiday under Proclamation No. 1116.
Lastly, the Municipality of Lian, Batangas will observe a holiday on January 31, as declared in Proclamation No. 1115, to commemorate its Liberation Day since World War II.
Nationwide, New Year’s Day will be celebrated as a holiday on January 1 under Proclamation No. 1006, along with other national holidays.
