On Wednesday, February 18, the General Academics (GA) Strand Council and the Intercultural Relations District (IRD) launched “LiGAya,” a fundraising celebration of the Lunar New Year, at the first- and second-floor foyers of the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) Main Building.

As part of the Council of Student Organizations (CSO) and Assembly of Class Officers (ACO) collaboration, “SALINLAHI,” LiGAya is a fundraising project featuring various booths by student organizations and invited businesses.

Booths by the GA Council and IRD organizations are stationed at the second-floor foyer, including “Fate in Full Bloom,” a collaboration between Silk Road and the GA Council; “Kismet,” by the ASHS French Legion; and “Omikuji” by Nihongo Dantai.

Food and drink concessionaires are also set up at the first-floor foyer, namely Chowking and Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea.

“It [LiGAya] aims to give students the opportunity to express their appreciation for their loved ones as they welcome the new year,” said GA Strand Secretary Adi Yap.

Yap added that beyond the common themes of good fortune, wealth, and prosperity, the event emphasizes the importance of family, love, and hope during the Lunar New Year.

“We hope that this project would help the students of ASHS make more joyful memories with the people who’ve stood by their side the past year, and show their gratefulness to their found family as they roam around the different food and student booths,” she concluded.

In line with the Lunar New Year celebration on Tuesday, February 17, the booths and concessionaires will continue selling onsite on Thursday, February 19, and Monday, February 23.
