RECAP: ASHS seniors wrap up intrams, crown final-day champions

Spearheaded by the Physical Education (PE) subject area, the annual intramurals for the Grade 12 students of the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) concluded on Friday, April 10, highlighted by the championship games in basketball and ultimate frisbee.

The intramurals, a regular partial requirement for the seniors’ PE class, were held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting November 17, 2025, following the seniors’ dismissal at 1:05 p.m.

Blue Eagle Honor

The one-day Cheerdance Competitions (CDC) for the Humanities and Social Sciences (HumSS) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strands were held on March 23 and 25, respectively.

With an advocacy-based routine, 12-Gonzales took home the gold in the HumSS strand, while 12-Solinas secured the STEM championship with a Super Bowl-inspired performance.

Special awards were also given to 12-Geronimo and 12-Walpole, who each received the Concept Visionary Award in their respective strands. The classes of 12-Sullivan and 12-Geronimo also bagged the Best in Stunts award, while 12-Kibe and 12-Pantalia claimed the Choreography Whiz Award.

Individual awards were also given to Amanda Hernandez and Breanna Andres for Best Female Cheerleader, Jarren Mendoza and Gabriel Gaw for Best Male Cheerleader, and Isaiah Legarda and Kyle Soriano for the Pride Power Award. 

Moderators who joined their class’s routines were also recognized, with Sir Macky Santos and Ma’am Caroline Laforteza receiving the All-Out Moderator Award.

In badminton, competitions concluded on Wednesday, April 8, with 12-Ogilvie emerging as champions. 12-Miki placed second, followed by 12-Anchieta in third.

12-Ogilvie’s Kyrie Elleison Acebedo and Edley Stan Cheng were also awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors.

Meanwhile, the archery competition featured three events — the Women’s Individual Event, Men’s Individual Event, and a Mixed Team Event.

Maria Theresa Yap of 12-Denn and Jazmond Chuah of 12-Ogilvie secured bronze in their respective individual events, while Cleone Canaleta of 12-Navarro and Hanz Ouano of 12-Miki finished with silver. Ultimately, 12-Navarro’s Bryelle Balintong and Ethan Santuyo claimed first place in their categories, leading the field with top performances.

In the mixed team event, 12-Miki earned bronze, followed by 12-Denn with silver. The duo from 12-Navarro then secured the championship, completing a sweep for their class in the competition.

As the intramurals reached their final day, 12-Evans and 12-Acquaviva faced off in the basketball finals, with 12-Evans ultimately claiming the championship by edging out a 39–36 victory in a modified format featuring two ten-minute periods.

12-Evans rallied behind Ateneo PAYA/PRADA Basketball Team Captain Ice Lanot, who led the team to gold and was also named MVP.

In ultimate frisbee action, 12-Beyzym took the upper hand over 12-Evans to secure the championship with an 11–8 win. Lanot, Dane Panesa, and Migo Peneyra were named to the Mythical Team, while Aiori Aquino earned MVP honors.
