World witnesses a Beaver Blood Moon

A sighting of a Beaver blood moon was visible on Tuesday, November 8, in a number of locations around the world. The natural phenomenon allowed the world to witness its last appearance until the year 2025. 

The blood moon consisted of the Earth casting its shadow completely over a full moon, blocking reflection of all direct sunlight from the lunar orb and dimming the color of the moon to a reddish hue.

Yulo bags silver, bronze medals

Carlos Yulo took home a silver and a bronze for the vault and parallel bar divisions, respectively, at the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Liverpool, England from October 29 to November 6.

NDRRMC recommends nat’l state of calamity after Typhoon “Paeng” hit PH

Marcos allows voluntary wearing of face masks indoors

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco reported on Tuesday, October 25, that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. agreed to release an executive order declaring the voluntary wearing of face masks indoors. 

The decision was made more than a month after Marcos Jr. issued a decree making it optional to wear face masks outdoors, and a week after the Department of Health (DOH) detected 81 cases of the Omicron XBB Subvariant in two regions and 193 cases of the XBC variant in 11 regions.

PH Peso nears all-time low as BOP deficit increases

Following the increase in the Philippines’ balance of payments (BOP) deficit, the Philippine Peso (PHP) nearly depreciated to its all-time low value and is currently pegged at Php 58.986 per $1. 

The BOP, or the summary of the country’s worldwide transactions recorded by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as of September 2022, was publicized last October 21.
