Mayon Volcano under Alert Level 3
On Monday, June 5, 2023, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) placed Mayon Volcano under Alert Level 2 due to its “current unrest driven by shallow magmatic processes,” which may result in phreatic or steam-driven eruptions, or “even precede a hazardous magmatic eruption.”
