Sotto returns as senate president

Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Monday, September 8, reclaimed the Senate presidency during the chamber’s plenary session, replacing Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who was unseated following a probe into controversial government flood control projects allegedly linked to his campaign’s top donor.

Senate orders arrest of Alice Guo

On July 14, 2024, the Senate sent out arrest orders for Bamban Mayor Alice Guo and her family, along with Dennis Cuananan and Nancy Gamo with the arrest order being signed last July 11 by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, the presider of the investigation and approved by Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
