The Office of the Ombudsman investigated at least 26 members of the House of Representatives over alleged irregularities in government infrastructure projects on Tuesday, April 14.

Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano confirmed that the Ombudsman has already secured the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of the lawmakers after the House complied with a subpoena.

“We also ask for the SALNs of the members of Congress because the House is the repository of these SALNs. Meron na pong compliance ang Congress sa mga SALN na hinihingi namin,” he said.

He added that the submitted documents represent only the first batch requested, noting that more records may be collected as the investigation continues.

Clavano further explained that the probe is not limited to flood control concerns alone, as they examine a broader pattern of irregularities involving various infrastructure projects.

He assured the public that the Ombudsman continues its efforts to address corruption and remains active in pursuing those accountable.

Earlier cases filed by the office in relation to infrastructure issues involve former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, contractor Sarah Discaya, and former Senator Bong Revilla.

These cases include allegations such as misuse of public funds and ghost project implementation in different areas.

As of present, no formal charges have been filed against the 26 lawmakers, and the investigation remains ongoing.
