On Friday, April 24, the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) Glee club held its Year-End Concert “Sulyap,” at the St. Aloysius Gonzaga chapel, showcasing the members’ musical growth throughout the school year.

The performance aimed to reflect the group’s discipline, collaboration, and artistic expression while bringing together the ASHS community, families, and alumni in a shared appreciation of music and the club’s journey.

It also served to recognize the contributions of graduating members and alumni to the continued engagement within the ASHS performing arts district.

The concert began with “Silence My Soul,” composed by National Artist Francisco Feliciano, a piece known for its solemn tone and reflective character.

Following this, the first spiel introduced “If Ye Love Me” by Thomas Tallis, a Renaissance sacred work characterized by structured vocal layering and balance among voice parts.

The same segment also featured ”Hush! Somebody’s Calling My Name” by Brazeal Dennard, an African-American spiritual rooted in the lived experiences of distinct people in the United States, expresses hope, pain, and longing for freedom.

The second set of performances included “Honeymoon Avenue” by Ariana Grande and “From The Start” by Laufey, highlighting modern interpretations of love.

This was followed by “This is My Song” and ”Elijah Rock” by Moses Hogan that served as the program’s final piece.

In an interview with one of the lead singers, Ashley Jardine, she shared that she ”felt the most emotion whenever we sang together as a choir,” describing the experience as creating “butterflies ” and a ”chill on your back.”

She also noted that this year was special for her personally, as it was her first experience in a choir where she performed solo parts.
