Crash Course Finance 101: How the Ateneo Investment Group’s Great Minds Think Alike

A major part of Filipino culture is the giving of envelopes during holidays and celebrations, typically during birthdays, Christmas, and sometimes as a reward for achievements. However, when given a resource like money, the question always lands on “What to do with it?” Many like to save it for the future, while others prefer to make the most of it and spend it on something they’ve been wanting for a long time. However, in the recent Great Minds Think Alike seminar hosted by the Ateneo Investment Group, a third, riskier, but-more-possibly-rewarding option was brought up: Investing.

Igniting The Flame of The ASHS’ Tomorrow

Every school year a new fire is lit and the legacy of the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) is passed onto the next batch of seniors. This April is the time for the juniors to exercise their right to vote and be the match that ignites a new era of student leadership.

Ang Bakkhai: a Review, a Celebration

Ang Bakkhai, the Filipino rendition of the Greek tragedy The Bacchae, was performed last April 18-20 in the ASHS Black Box, one of the many plays conducted by the ASHS’ Teatro Baguntao. From colorful depictions of Dionysus’ godhood, to mild depictions of gore and violence, Ang Bakkhai delivers clever storytelling combined with powerful acting.

Women’s Month: Stories of Modern Day Heroines

Women’s Month is an annual celebration of womanhood that remembers the impact that women have made throughout history and in society. Originally rooted in the celebration of women in the school district of Sonoma, California, the monthly commemoration has since evolved into a global celebration of all women in the world—even in the ASHS.

Remembering Yesterday’s Daughters

What does it mean to be a girl? As a toddler, slurring giggles and feebly crawling on awkward feet, there wasn’t really much to the world outside of the simplest, barest of things. Soon, however, the moment your hair was long enough to tie into pigtails, your limbs became a little stronger, and your speech became a little more sound—things would begin to change.

ASHS Security Guards: Our Unsung Heroes

March is a time for us to appreciate and highlight the remarkable women that surround us. From our mothers, who nurtured us since we were young, to our teachers and formators, who have armed us with knowledge and intellect—it is an understatement to say that we would not be anywhere without them. While we shower our utmost love towards these individuals, it is also important that we spotlight our unsung heroes, such as our school security guards.

The Next Generation of Palestinians

Previously, you might have known that the true losers in a war aren’t the countries who set it in motion, but the countless innocent lives that are ravaged by warfare. Now we go examine the lives of the Palestinian children, and how their upbringing could shape the future of their home.

GomBurZa: Sparking Revolutions of the Past and Present

Of course, being produced by Jesuit Communications Philippines (JesCom), the project has its own share of support from the Ateneo de Manila University. On February 29, 2024, an open free-screening and talkback session with the staff, cast, and some Ateneo faculty was held at the Huyndai Hall in Areté from 5:00PM to 8:45PM.

I Love you, Mom!

In line with women’s month, let this be a reminder of the appreciation we have towards the mother figures who have dedicated their lives to shape and ripen ours, as we hear from our teachers who have exemplified being both a mother at home and in school.
