Inflation: Up, Up, and Away!

It’s one fine day in the town market—until your parent or guardian starts mumbling, “Grabe, ang mahal na ng mga bilihin ngayon,” and proceeds to drop the kilo of onions they were planning to buy.

Bombing in Mindanao State University: An Episode of The Cataclysms in Marawi

On Sunday morning, December 3, a lethal explosion bashed through the premises of Mindanao State University’s gymnasium in Marawi, during a Catholic mass. Another tragedy has yet again struck the city of over 200,000 in the Autonomous Region of Mindanao, begging the question on whether an olive branch could ever be extended between the Islamic militants and the Philippine government forces.

The Pre-Medical Society of Ateneo (PMSA-SHS) is the only organization under HED, though that is sure to change in the future as more and more students set their sights for more diverse and inclusive organizations for the ASHS student populace.

Animation: Moving Images and Stories

Animation has carved a place in our childhoods and provides a strong medium of storytelling and expression, combining motion with splendid, colorful imagery. From household cartoon channels, to the local animation industry here in the Philippines, the history of animation and its future is one that is rich, lush, and likely needs more frames—perhaps added by the generations of talented animators that have fostered it—to make it look smoother.

The Eras of Feminism (Taylor’s Version)

The Eras Tour is an American concert tour by 2023 Artist of the Year, Taylor Swift, that goes through her ten different ‘eras’ of albums—with the international leg starting in early November of this year. But of course, no established artist is without the support system that launched their career in the first place.

When the Ground Shakes

It was an ordinary Saturday evening in the South of Mindanao. It was past 10 in the evening, so some were on their way home, others were already sound asleep, and some remained wide-awake in the bustling nightlife of Surigao del Sur. Thirty minutes later, each individual was on their way to the evacuation center, some still in their pajamas, others even in their work attire. There was one common denominator amongst all of them—their confusion. As buildings shook, people were in shock, and the sound of rumbling, louder than thunder, pierced through the panicked cries of the people.

In the Eyes of the Educator

Behind every educator is a student who has become their number one role model, or the one they never had.

OBP: There is Power in Pride

A parade of colors splashed across the Ateneo de Manila University campus last October 13. For others, it was just another day—but for many, this marked the first time they were able to proudly don their Pride flags behind their backs, and wave their colors to the blue of Ateneo.
