A’s, B’s, and C’s may just be letters for many, but in the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School (ASHS), this set of letters gain a whole new meaning—for us Ateneans, these are indicators of our efforts and perseverance in our studies as well as deciding factors for our futures. The time has come yet again for the moment of truth, where the fruits of the students’ months of hard work, sleepless nights, and endless cups of coffee, finally ripen for a harvest.

The Boiling Point: EDSA People Power Revolution
Throughout the history of our country, it’s not often that you see or witness democracy triumph over injustice—especially injustice that affects the whole country. A significant and remarkable example of this would be the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, a revolution not only months, nor years, but decades in the making. Akin to a boiling pot, the Filipinos’ passions and thirsts for justice were brought to a roaring boil—and a resounding eruption—as the flames of tyranny, abuse, and hardship that strangled our countrymen during Ferdinand Marcos’ administration ignited the spirits of the Filipinos. The toppling of a dictator is no easy feat—only the perseverance of Filipinos proved it to be possible.

Animation: Moving Images and Stories
Animation has carved a place in our childhoods and provides a strong medium of storytelling and expression, combining motion with splendid, colorful imagery. From household cartoon channels, to the local animation industry here in the Philippines, the history of animation and its future is one that is rich, lush, and likely needs more frames—perhaps added by the generations of talented animators that have fostered it—to make it look smoother.

OBP: There is Power in Pride
A parade of colors splashed across the Ateneo de Manila University campus last October 13. For others, it was just another day—but for many, this marked the first time they were able to proudly don their Pride flags behind their backs, and wave their colors to the blue of Ateneo.
And Then, You Smile
By Alex Lauricio You wake up. The sound of the faucet greets you good morning, and the smell of coffee invites you outside of bed. It’s yet another day in the job—and you’ve grown accustomed to going through the motions of being a teacher. You look at the deadlines, have a long good look at…
Stories Of Martial Law (From the Zamboangan Peninsula)
By Leklek They shoved silence down their throats, and labeled critical thinking as dissent. There was a simple dichotomy—you’re either loyal to the regime, or a rebel working the graveyard shift. While we usually localize the stories of Martial Law around the lockdown-ridden streets of Metro Manila, filled with its rich and vast underground networks…
